Mediation

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that cases should proceed to trial only after the parties have engaged in a good-faith effort to resolve their dispute. A trained mediator can facilitate that effort by identifying areas of agreement and disagreement, breaking through apparent logjams, and helping the parties think about their underlying goals and interests.

I have a broad range of legal experiences that I bring to this process. I have worked as a corporate litigator, a local prosecutor, and a plaintiff’s trial lawyer. I clerked for federal judges at both the trial and appellate level. I have tried many cases to verdict in Oregon state and federal courts, and I have argued complex motions and appeals.

I am available to mediate all types of civil cases, including motor vehicle, employment, civil rights, medical negligence, and miscellaneous injury cases.

SUBMISSIONS

I prefer to receive submissions from the parties several days before the scheduled mediation.  I usually speak with the lawyers for each side prior to the mediation.

LOCATION

I mediate cases in person anywhere in Oregon or by Zoom.

FEES

Half day — $1,500

Full day — $3,000

Hourly rate for additional time — $400 per hour

Unless the parties agree otherwise, I divide the fees equally among all of the parties to the mediation.

AVAILABILITY

I can schedule mediations on short notice and on weekends if necessary. Please contact me for my available dates.
