PHILOSOPHY
I believe that cases should proceed to trial only after the parties have engaged in a good-faith effort to resolve their dispute. A trained mediator can facilitate that effort by identifying areas of agreement and disagreement, breaking through apparent logjams, and helping the parties think about their underlying goals and interests. I have a broad range of legal experiences that I bring to this process. I have worked as a corporate litigator, a local prosecutor, and a plaintiff’s trial lawyer. I clerked for federal judges at both the trial and appellate level. I have tried many cases to verdict in Oregon state and federal courts, and I have litigated complex motions and appeals. After more than twenty years, I have seen it all, from a variety of perspectives.SUBMISSIONS
I prefer to receive submissions from the parties several days before the scheduled mediation. Depending on the complexity of the case, I might ask to schedule a conference with each party prior to the mediation.LOCATION
I am available to mediate cases anywhere in Oregon. Due to COVID-related restrictions, I am currently doing mediations using Zoom.FEES
Half day — $1,500
Full day — $3,000
Hourly rate for additional time — $400 per hour
Unless the parties agree otherwise, I divide the fees equally among all of the parties to the mediation.
AVAILABILITY
I usually can schedule mediations fairly quickly. Please contact me for available dates.
